After one travel snafu after another, my husband and I finally arrived in Kigali, Rwanda last night at 1:30 AM. We are two days late! Gratefully, we were greeted warmly at the airport by Jean Marie, our driver and friend, who quickly delivered us to a short, but well needed sleep.
This morning, we connected with my colleague, Delphin, and took the very picturesque drive to and across the Ugandan border to Kabale where we met with Bishop Enoch and the crew from AICM, our partners on the Batwa Project. Also at the meeting was a new friend, fellow Californian and documentarian Patrick Hill, who has graciously agreed to help us make a video documenting our Batwa Project . Our meeting today included a report on the accomplishments, challenges and future strategies of the project. I am truly thrilled with our current partnership. Tomorrow we will begin visiting the Batwa settlements.
Tonight, I am looking out at a beautiful stormy sky over the lush garden, staying warm by a fire while I write this blog. Tonight, after three sleepless days there is one thing for sure…sleep is imminent.
